Extreme Reliability Challenge for Vending Machines: Wire and Knob Durability Under Freezing & Refrigerated Conditions
In the design and development of automated vending machines, stability and reliability are among the most critical performance factors. This is especially true for machines handling food products, where the durability of each component directly impacts overall operational continuity—and, ultimately, the customer experience.
To ensure our equipment can function properly in extreme environmental conditions, we conducted a 45-day reliability stress test, focusing specifically on the durability of wiring and control knobs under freezing (-18°C) and refrigerated (0–5°C) settings.
Rigorous Testing Conditions to Ensure Reliable Operation in Extreme Environments
During this testing period, our vending machine was continuously operated within both freezing and refrigerated environments. Each test session lasted a minimum of one hour daily, with specific goals:
-
Low Temperature Brittleness Analysis
At sub-zero temperatures, plastics and metals may become brittle, compromising knob flexibility, structural integrity, and lifespan. -
Condensation Impact Simulation
Refrigerated environments can lead to internal condensation, which may affect wire-to-knob contact points and potentially cause electrical short circuits or mechanical failure. -
Long-Term Operational Stability Validation
The 45-day continuous test verified that even after repeated startups and operations, the physical and electrical properties of the wiring and control mechanisms remained intact and stable.
Why We Perform This Test
Vending machines are often deployed in diverse environments, including convenience stores, train stations, offices, schools, and outdoor public areas. Many of these units require internal low-temperature storage to maintain food freshness or chilled beverages. However, harsh temperature fluctuations and humidity can severely challenge mechanical structures and electronic components.
This test addresses key risk factors:
-
Preventing knob malfunction due to temperature-induced stiffness, ensuring smooth customer interactions.
-
Extending equipment lifespan, reducing repair or replacement frequency, and increasing ROI for operators.
-
Ensuring uninterrupted performance even when placed in freezers or outdoor winter environments.
We believe that only rigorously tested equipment can offer our clients peace of mind and maximum operational value.
Choose Stability. Choose Reliability.
Our smart vending machines are not only powered by advanced automation technology, but also proven through extensive reliability testing. They are designed to maintain stable operation across diverse temperature and environmental conditions, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous business performance.
